Building again

For how much we claim Diesel (our little black dog, who is not so little anymore) is not the sharpest tool in the shed...... he's pretty stinkin smart when it comes to veggies.

You see, last year we could NOT keep him out of the garden. He knows the difference between ripe and not so ripe tomatoes. He LOVES both peas and the pea plants. And he loves to run through the garden just to get a reaction out of Tren and I - AND A REACTION HE GETS. (along with a swift kick in the butt!) Let just say he did A LOT of damage last year.

When I say damage - I don't mean just to our garden. He has cost us LOTS of money. He completely ruined the electrical on our boat trailer, he chewed through our cable cord 3 times before we had to completely replace the WHOLE thing, he chewed through our land line phone cord, he has just about taken off the majority of our peach tree's lower branches, plus much, much more!
(why we still have him you ask - pride!! I can honestly say that I refuse to get a dog and then give it up a couple of months later just because he is an out of control puppy)

Our solution.... A fence! Tren and I decided to put a fence around the garden which also blocks him from chewing on the trailers, cable cord, land line cord, etc. I of course didn't like any of the pre-made fences - so my sweet husband built me one. (I of course helped - Diesel of course didn't. As you can see in the first picture, he just slept as we worked away)

I love that my husband can build ANYTHING!!! And I love that he is a perfectionist about it! And I LOVE that he is willing to redo something because I changed my mind.
Can I just say that I have a VERY PATIENT HUBBY!
Like I said -Tren is very patient with me. I wanted to get down and dirty and help build too.
I would like to think I was a pretty sweet side kick - I have asked Tren to not tell me if he felt differently. :)

The finished product!
We even put solar lights on the posts to add to the ambiance for when we BBQ and chill outside in the evenings during the summer!

Getting ready

As most of you know - Tren and I are pretty much professional gardners. I'm just sayin...

Me personally, I am a little obsessed! Gardening is my out, my alone time when I gather my thoughts and just chill not to mention the incredible tan I get from spending hours playing in the mud.
With the warm weather coming (well, every now and then). Tren and I decided to take advantage of a somewhat warm day before football season starts. We went to the dump and got a truck load compost! (yep, I know, it's beautiful)

We have really worked hard at getting our awful Riverton soil to a point to where things will grow.

Tren working hard - isn't he hansom?

We finished off the day tilling in our new compost! I gotta say, our garden is going to be incredible this year!

Our goal....

*Bottle salsa and spagetti sauce since we go through both like water.

*Freeze lots of corn and as many peppers as our freezer can hold.

*Make freezer jam with all our strawberries. (Tren had never heard of freezer jam until a couple days ago.....sheesh)

*And indulge in fresh, organic veggies all summer and fall.

Let the planting begin......

New toy

Tren and I have been wanting to get a trailer for a while now but we never really buckled down and got serious about looking until a couple weeks ago. I think the warm weather got us super excited for camping which then led to talking about a trailer and then we just did it.

We found this beauty. It's a 24 ft that sleeps 5-6 comfortably. We wanted to get a trailer that we could eventually grow into, eventually is the key word. Tren just fell in love with this one and after seeing his face when we found it, I couldn't say no.

It's going to be great to go camping this summer! I have already told Tren that I am going on all the hunting trips now that there will be a heater - he's not sure how he feels about that one yet! I just keep reminding him that I cook :)

Another great thing about this one (well, according to Tren) is that it has a hitch on the back of it so we can pull the fishing boat behind the trailer. Now I have a little anxiety with driving as it is, let alone with a trailer but to add a fishing boat into the mix just doesn't sit well with me. I guess it's a good thing Tren was a trucker for a while!

Last few days at sea

Sorry to drag this cruise on forever but my stinkin blog is being ridiculous!! One day it won't come up, the next day it won't let me upload any pictures or it kicks me off and doesn't save anything I am working on! UGH!! ANNOYING!!!
Anywho.....
Our last couple of days consisted of a formal night, lots of time on the slide and plenty of sunsets!

This was one of our last dinners in the formal dining room. We dressed up for the formal night. We wanted to get a picture of us and asked our waitress if she could take the picture - she was HILARIOUS!! She posed us and went to town taking a ton of pictures - this was the least cheesy out of all of them, so it says a lot about the rest of the pictures she took.
Good memories!!
Tren and I at a show after dinner
We spent the majority of the next day acting like children. There were hardly any kids on the ship which was really nice because there was NO line to go down the slide!
We had a great time! Nothing like a bunch of adults giggling like children and bragging about how fast they can go down the slide.

Tren and I waiting for the sun to set. One of my favorite parts of the cruise! It was absolutely gorgeous! I loved watching them with this guy!
This cruise was the PERFECT way to celebrate our anniversary! I had the most amazing time with this man! I absolutely love him and just can't get enough of him! I am looking forward to our next adventure!
