Road Trip

Tren and I went on a road trip to the Grand Canyon with our good friends Gary and Kim. Kim had never been before so this became 'Kim's trip.' We had so much fun! We pretty much laughed and goofed off the whole trip! I can't wait for our next one!

So we left Utah with NO plans! We had no idea where we were going to sleep or eat. We thought we would just wing it!! I strongly recommend it... if no high strung people are with you! :) It was nice not having any plans or expectations. We stopped whenever something looked fun or interesting. It was great!

Little did we know that Kanab is a 'happenin' place! Every hotel we went to was sold out of rooms! We finally ended up at the Four Seasons and got their last 'suite' for the night!

When we walked into the room, we felt like we were livin in the 70's! Our head board was this awful brown wicker, the tv had buttons for each station and the decor was hilarious! I couldn't believe we paid over 100 bucks for this place! LOL

Just to give you an idea of our room decor, Kim was kind enough to show off our fake cactus plant that was falling apart!

Here we are at the entrance to the North Rim!! We were so excited to get out of the car and do some hiking!

Here is Susan the park ranger! She was so stinkin cute! We had to get a picture!

Here is T and I in front of the Roaring Springs Canyon! We had to get some pictures on our walk to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon!! FYI: We are all in red cuz the Utes were playing that day! :)

And of course, Tren wants a closer look at the canyon!

The Grand Canyon

Kim loving the view of her first time at the Grand Canyon!

Spaghetti Sauce

I have got to take a second and brag.... I (Chylie) made spaghetti sauce from scratch!! Yep, you heard me correctly, from SCRATCH! Everything I needed minus the meat and seasonings came straight out of our garden! And I couldn't believe how good it turned out! It was actually yummy! This is huge, because anyone who knows me, knows cooking is not one of my strengths!! Tren does most of the cooking!

Fruit Leather

So my good friend Jena came over to my house to teach me how to be domestic. We took on the task of making fruit leather with two huge buckets of peaches that her parents grew! (Thanks guys) And I have to admit, I really liked it! I was a little nervous about screwing something up, but everything turned out great! Here's Jena lining the pan with plastic wrap.
These were just two of our six pans that we had to cook! I am not going to lie, this is the worst part! You have to bake them on an extremely low temperature of 6-8 hours before they are ready to eat. I have never been a patient person, so waiting was killing me!!

State Fair

You gotta love the Utah State Fair!! Tren and I had a blast! We both hadn't been in years! I had forgotten how fun it was! My favorite part is all the yummy food! T and I had a little bit of everything.... well, just about everything. We did get pretty full fast and by the time we left the fair, our belly's were turning! LOL But it was all totally worth it!

The funnel cake was DIVINE! I strongly recommend it!

This pig was ENORMOUS!! I had to get a picture of it!

Tren was ready to jump in and play with the sheep! Silly T, you're just suppose to look!

GO UTES!

Tren and I were so excited to start off the season of Utah football!! Our first game was against the Utah State Aggies, and of course the Utes won! It's pretty funny that Tren graduated from Utah State and yet he's a hard core Ute fan!

Doesnt the new field look great!

6 months....

T and I were able to go to florida a couple weeks ago to celebrate our 6 month anniversary. It was a blast! We were like a couple of chubby kids in a candy store... we were lovin every second of it!

T had never been on an airboat ride so we decided to go lookin for gators! It was super fun, but just our luck, we didn't see one gator! I was a little annoyed especially since I had talked it up to tren! So to make up for the lack of gators in the swamp, we went to gatorland!

There was DEFINITELY no shortage of aligators here!! We saw every kind of gator and crocodiles there were! We had a ton of fun here!

We got to get our picture taken with a little aligator and a snake! T wasn't so sure about this! But I was loving every second of it!

Tren went to the beach back when he was super young but doesn't remember it! I couldn't wait to take him! I knew he would love it! I couldn't have been more right! He was a natural body surfer! The first time we went, we didn't get a boogie board which we regretted!! So the second time we went, we stopped and bought a boogie board for Tren!

Doesn't he look excited!! We even got one with sharks on it since we had been brushing up on our shark facts on discovery channel's shark week! (Not a good idea to watch shark week during your week in Florida)

We loved Cocoa beach! It was gorgeous!! The waves were huge! The water was warm and it wasn't too crowded like at Daytona Beach!

To top off our vacation we decided to take a kayaking tour to islands off cocoa beach!! It was great! It turned out that T and I were the only ones that had signed up for the afternoon spot so we pretty much had our own private tour! It was probably the highlight of our vacation! Our guide took us to where he'd seen wild manatees and sure enough, they were there! They came up to us and let us pet them. One even rolled over on its back so I could rub it's belly! It was the neatest thing ever!

The left picture you can see the manatee poking its head out of the water to drink the fresh water coming out of the hose. And the other picture is me petting a manatee. You can kinda see it just barely poking its body out of the water.

This was a big sign where we got out of the water giving us information about the manatees. So come to find out, we weren't all that special. I guess it's really common to see manatees where we were kayaking.

We felt like we were kayaking through the amazon!! We were going through tight spaces and it was really over grown! T is a professional!! If you can tell, he is the one doing all the work! I pretty much just sat back an enjoyed the ride! We had so much fun!!
